About the role#
As a Safety Intern, you will join our team to help implement and oversee the Project Safety Program. You will work on-site to monitor construction activities and ensure compliance with government regulations, as well as company and client policies. This role involves developing site safety procedures, reviewing work plans for accuracy, and assisting with safety audits. You will also provide corrective action recommendations and help track performance metrics. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Develop and implement site safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor construction projects to ensure safe working conditions.
- Review project work plans for conformance with safety standards.
- Conduct safety program audits and provide coaching or training on-site.
- Track and report on safety performance metrics.
- Provide recommendations for corrective actions.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field.
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail with the ability to spot discrepancies.
- Ability to work independently and with diverse teams, from craft workers to leadership.
- Ability to travel and relocate as required by project needs.
- Ability to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends when necessary.
- Knowledge of construction safety and relevant government requirements is preferred.
