About the role#
This internship offers a look into construction cost estimating and management within the Water Facilities South group. You will gain hands-on experience by supporting the estimating team on projects related to water and wastewater treatment facilities. This is a paid position designed to provide exposure to the planning process and construction industry operations.
What you'll do#
- Review project plans and specifications alongside the estimating team.
- Calculate material quantities required for construction projects.
- Research and gather pricing data from various vendors and suppliers.
- Organize project data, spreadsheets, and estimate documentation.
- Assist with cost tracking and budget-related tasks.
- Learn the fundamentals of how construction bids and estimates are prepared.
- Attend team meetings to observe the project planning process.
What you'll need#
- Current high school Sophomore, Junior, or Senior status.
- Ability to work part-time during the school year.
- Access to your own transportation.
- Working knowledge of the MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, OneNote, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical skills and a detail-oriented approach to tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Maturity, professionalism, and the ability to manage your own time.
- Experience in a leadership role is preferred.
- Comfortable speaking publicly to small and large groups.

- This role is based on-site in Westlake, Texas.
- The internship follows a rolling term schedule.
