About the role#
This internship is based in Burnaby, British Columbia, for the summer of 2027. You will join the Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers team to support geotechnical projects during both the bid and construction phases. This is a full-time position requiring on-site work.
What you'll do#
- Perform engineering analyses to develop design solutions for geotechnical challenges.
- Design temporary structures to support ongoing construction activities.
- Use geotechnical data to conduct design and analysis for slope stability, foundation design, settlement, excavation support, and groundwater flow.
- Create engineering reports, drawings, and detailed calculation packages.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure designs are cost-effective and constructible.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate (minimum 3rd year) or graduate degree program in Civil Engineering or a related geotechnical field.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team or independently.
- Excellent time management, organization, and attention to detail.
- A commitment to ethics, integrity, and safety on the job site.
- Ability to travel as required.
- Physical ability to access all areas of a construction site across various climates and environments.
- A strong work ethic and the initiative to complete tasks effectively.

- Term: Summer 2027 (approximately May to August, or longer).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $22.00 to $27.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
