About the role#
Irving Pulp & Paper is seeking Mechanical Engineering students for the Fall 2026 work term. This full-time, on-site position offers students the opportunity to contribute to operations in Saint John and Utopia, New Brunswick.
What you'll do#
- Develop project concepts and complete preliminary design assignments.
- Prepare project funding applications and justifications.
- Manage construction contracts and requisition materials and services.
- Support project construction, commissioning, and start-up activities.
- Collaborate with contractors and mill personnel to plan and execute work packages.
- Partner with the reliability team to perform root cause failure analysis on equipment.
- Review and optimize preventive maintenance programs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering degree program with good academic standing.
- Ability to manage time effectively across multiple projects.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- A safety-first mindset and the ability to work well within a team.
- A long-term interest in pursuing an engineering career.
