About the role#
Interfor is looking for an Operations/Silviculture Intern to join the team in Timmins, Ontario for the summer of 2027. This is a full-time, on-site position where you will work alongside experienced professionals to gain practical experience in sustainable forest management and manufacturing. The internship term is expected to last 4 to 8 months.
What you'll do#
- Support sustainable forest management and manufacturing operations.
- Learn about forest regeneration, management, harvesting, and the transformation of wood products.
- Collect and analyze field and operational data to help with decision-making.
- Collaborate with forestry, operations, and production teams to promote safe and efficient practices.
- Develop your leadership, technical, and analytical skills through hands-on projects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree or diploma program related to Forestry, Natural Resources, Wood Products Processing, Operations Management, Engineering, or Environmental Studies.
- A curious, hands-on approach and an interest in working in outdoor and industrial environments.
- A commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work with various teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Experience with GIS or GPS technology is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Timmins, Ontario, Canada.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: Paid position with a starting salary from $3,700 per month, depending on your year in school and experience.
- Additional Support: A temporary living allowance is available for those moving to the area.
