Mechanical Engineering Student - Irving Pulp & Paper - Fall 2026

About the role#

Irving Pulp & Paper is seeking Mechanical Engineering students for the Fall 2026 work term. This position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience within mill operations in Saint John and Utopia, New Brunswick.

What you'll do#

• Develop project concepts and complete preliminary design assignments.
• Prepare project funding applications and justifications.
• Manage construction contracts and handle the requisitioning of materials and services.
• Coordinate with contractors and mill personnel to determine scope, planning, and execution for mill projects.
• Collaborate with the reliability team to perform root cause failure analysis on equipment and optimize preventive maintenance programs.
• Support project construction, commissioning, and start-up activities.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering degree program with good academic standing.
• A safety-first mindset and the ability to work well in a team.
• Strong time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• A long-term interest in pursuing an engineering career.
