About the role#
Irving Pulp & Paper is seeking Mechanical Engineering students for the Fall 2026 work term. This position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience within mill operations in Saint John and Utopia, New Brunswick.
What you'll do#
- Develop project concepts and complete preliminary design assignments.
- Prepare project funding applications and justifications.
- Manage construction contracts and handle the requisitioning of materials and services.
- Coordinate with contractors and mill personnel to determine scope, planning, and execution for mill projects.
- Collaborate with the reliability team to perform root cause failure analysis on equipment and optimize preventive maintenance programs.
- Support project construction, commissioning, and start-up activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering degree program with good academic standing.
- A safety-first mindset and the ability to work well in a team.
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- A long-term interest in pursuing an engineering career.
