About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience with the systems that support reliable electricity across New England. You will work with the Power System Modeling and Support team to maintain the Energy Management System breaker-node model. This role connects classroom learning to practical grid operations through data verification and process improvement.
What you'll do#
- Review and verify modeling data, including substation one-line diagrams.
- Check generator and transformer modeling information for accuracy.
- Verify metering data mapped to network elements.
- Partner with staff to explore automation opportunities that improve the efficiency and accuracy of model verification.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
- Must have completed at least the first year of college and be enrolled in a four-year or graduate-level program.
- Rising juniors are preferred, though rising sophomores are encouraged to apply.
- Proficiency with Excel, with experience in Excel VBA macros preferred.
- Interest in power systems, grid operations, data verification, or technical problem solving.
- Strong attention to detail, curiosity, and a collaborative mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Must have the authority to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis, as this position does not offer visa sponsorship.

- Compensation: Paid position with an hourly range of $19 to $36, depending on your year in college.
