About the role#
New York Life offers a 12-week actuarial internship program for the summer of 2027. This program runs from May 25th to August 12th. Interns work on projects that apply actuarial theory to real business challenges. You will gain exposure to actuarial modeling software, Excel, VBA, and Python. The program includes mentorship, meetings with senior management, and training sessions.
What you'll do#
- Develop premiums and benefits for new or enhanced insurance and annuity products.
- Project the profitability of company products.
- Quantify risk exposure and propose ways to minimize it.
- Perform actuarial and statistical analytics.
- Optimize actuarial processes.
What you'll need#
- You are a rising junior, senior, or recent graduate working toward a Bachelor’s degree.
- Preferred majors include Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or Finance.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Credit for one or more Society of Actuaries exams.
