About the role#
This 10-week summer internship is part of the New York Life Direct program. You will join the Advanced Analytics team to support data-driven decision-making. The role provides exposure to senior leaders and cross-functional collaboration across Finance, Marketing, Product, and Technology. You will gain experience applying machine learning and generative AI to business problems.
What you'll do#
- Support daily analytics functions including data querying, preparation, and exploratory data analysis.
- Contribute to analytics projects such as test design, ad-hoc requests, and proof-of-concept models.
- Explore and apply artificial intelligence and generative AI tools to support analytics workflows.
- Apply statistical and machine learning approaches to business problems and evaluate model performance.
- Evaluate the accuracy, limitations, and data quality of AI-assisted outputs.
- Present insights through midpoint and final presentations to business stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in and pursuing a graduate degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or Computer Science.
- Basic proficiency in SQL and a statistical programming language such as Python or R.
- Experience with data querying, data preparation, exploratory data analysis, statistical modeling, or machine learning.
- Ability to critically evaluate analytical and AI-generated outputs for accuracy, appropriateness, and limitations.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without employment-based sponsorship.

- Location: Tampa, Florida.
- Work Modality: Hybrid, with in-person work required Tuesday through Thursday.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June to August).
- Status: Paid, full-time internship.
