About the role#
This 10-week summer internship program provides hands-on experience within the Finance organization at New York Life Direct. You will work alongside finance professionals to support reporting, analysis, and operational initiatives. The program runs from June through August and includes professional development workshops, networking events, and fireside chats with senior leaders.
What you'll do#
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Research, document, and resolve account variances and discrepancies.
- Compile and review monthly and quarterly financial documentation.
- Use financial systems to research differences, identify errors, and test new products or system changes.
- Support internal and external financial requests, management reporting, and ad hoc analyses.
- Assist with quarter-end and year-end close activities while maintaining strong financial controls.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
- Participate in case studies, special projects, and a final presentation.
What you'll need#
- You are a rising Junior or Senior pursuing an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field at an accredited 4-year college or university.
- You have demonstrated leadership or meaningful involvement in campus or community activities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- A desire to apply classroom knowledge to real-world business challenges.
- Curiosity, initiative, and a continuous improvement mindset.
- You must be authorized to work in the U.S. We do not offer employment-based immigration sponsorship for this program.

- Location: Tampa, Florida.
- Work Modality: Hybrid (in-office Tuesday through Thursday).

- Compensation: This is a paid, full-time position.
