About the role#
As a Transmission Planning Intern, you will assist in the analysis and planning of the New England transmission system. You will work alongside experienced engineers to model the high-voltage system that keeps electricity flowing across the region. This role provides hands-on experience with power system analysis and helps support long-term planning decisions for the regional electric grid.
What you'll do#
- Develop and refine system models.
- Perform transmission system analyses to support planning studies.
- Support data management and other related technical services.
- Apply classroom theory to real-world assignments under the guidance of mentors.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD program in electrical engineering with a focus on power systems.
- Completion of at least the first year of college.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to become familiar with power system analysis software such as PSS®E, Aspen, and TARA.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, or other office applications is desirable.
- Authorization to work in the United States on a permanent basis. This position does not offer visa sponsorship.

- This is an on-site, full-time internship based in Windsor, Connecticut.
- The internship term is rolling.
