About the role#
As a Power System Modeling Engineer Intern, you will work with the Model Administration and Support Team to maintain the New England Network Model. You will gain hands-on experience with power system modeling tools and contribute to the reliability and planning of the regional power grid. This role involves analyzing system data and supporting real planning studies.
What you'll do#
- Assist with data handling and updates to the New England Network Model.
- Create planning study cases for transmission owners.
- Update generation profiles by gathering data from multiple sources.
- Review and maintain contingency project data, load profiles, and resource data.
- Support the team in testing and validating model changes.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an electrical engineering program with a power systems concentration.
- Completion of at least the first year of college.
- Current enrollment in a four-year or graduate-level academic program.
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a small team.
- Graduate students are preferred, though rising seniors will be considered.
- Experience with PSS®E is preferred.
