About the role#
The VESL Plus Intern supports the Vocational English and work readiness training program, which helps newly-arrived refugees prepare for and secure entry-level employment. This role involves direct engagement with clients, classroom support, and administrative assistance to ensure program goals are met.
What you'll do#
- Assist or teach in VESL classrooms as needed.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and research of curricula and classroom materials.
- Manage program intake by collecting and processing required documentation.
- Maintain organized digital and paper files for clients and cohorts.
- Track and record student attendance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or TESOL/TFL Certificate program.
- Experience working with adults from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong computer skills and comfort using online platforms like Zoom and Teams.
- Ability to be flexible, organized, and work as a self-starter.
- Preferred: Overseas study experience or ESL teaching experience.
Location & details#
- Location: San Diego, California (On-site at the El Cajon office).
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm PST (interns choose hours within this window).
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship.
