About the role#
The Library Digital Accessibility Assistant joins the UVA Library Digital Accessibility Student Team. You will focus on either captioning and transcription of digital media or the remediation of PDF and other document files. This is a production-focused role where you will work in a small sub-team led by a Graduate Library Digital Accessibility Lead. You will help ensure digital content is accessible for all library users.
What you'll do#
- Perform high-volume production work in your assigned track.
- Follow established workflows, style guides, and quality benchmarks.
- Maintain consistent throughput to meet production targets.
- Maintain accurate work logs in the team tracking system.
- Submit work for quality review and incorporate feedback.
- Participate in team check-ins and onboarding sessions.
- Maintain confidentiality of all student and patron records.
- If selected, you must enroll in a one-credit internship course or complete the asynchronous co-curricular workshop series.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate status at UVA.
- Federal work-study eligibility.
- Strong attention to detail and reliability.
- A commitment to digital equity and information access.
- Majors in Computer Science, Media Studies, or Communications are preferred.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Charlottesville, Virginia.
- Work is on-site with the possibility of hybrid arrangements after the initial training period.
