About the role#
The Extended Services Intern will assist the Intensive Case Management, Extended Case Management, and Services for Older Refugees programs. You will support the long-term integration of refugees, asylees, and other humanitarian immigrants in the Baltimore area. This role focuses on supporting vulnerable households, including survivors of domestic violence, youth without guardians, and individuals with physical or mental health conditions.
What you'll do#
- Support case management by helping to develop service plans that meet individual client needs and preferences.
- Assist clients with arranging transportation to medical and other required appointments.
- Conduct virtual orientation sessions on topics such as using public transportation and accessing community resources.
- Assist with service documentation through case-notes and case file maintenance.
What you'll need#
- Interest or experience in working with refugees, immigrants, case management, social work, or public health.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and web-based databases.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Fluency in English is required; bilingual ability in a local client language is desired.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle for travel throughout Baltimore is strongly preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Baltimore, Maryland.
- Modality: Hybrid, involving a mix of office work, remote tasks, and field time.
- Term: Fall 2026 (September 14, 2026, to December 18, 2026).
- Commitment: Minimum of 15 hours per week for 14 weeks, with at least 3 days per week in the office.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. Interns are eligible for a per diem reimbursement of $15 per day to offset food and travel costs, as well as mileage reimbursement for approved activities.
