About the role#
The Occupational Therapy Life Skill Trainer Internship provides an opportunity to support clients in developing skills for self-sufficiency and community engagement. This role focuses on teaching practical tasks such as budgeting, public transportation use, medication management, and scheduling appointments. Interns will work under the direction of a staff occupational therapist to support clients in their homes and within the community.
What you'll do#
- Provide life skills training activities in client homes and in the community.
- Assist in teaching group activities, including workshops on financial management and job-seeking.
- Communicate with caseworkers and health team members to coordinate client care.
- Document completed activities and client responses.
- Attend staff meetings as the schedule allows.
- Support the office with other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Interest in working with diverse populations.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- Background in health promotion, social work, or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

- Duration: 12 to 14 weeks.
- Commitment: 10 to 20 hours per week.
