About the role#
The Development & Grant Coordination Intern supports the IRC Silver Spring development team by organizing program data, creating impact materials, and conducting research to support fundraising efforts. This role involves analyzing outcomes, researching local benchmarks, and coordinating with program teams to verify data accuracy. This is an unpaid internship for Fall 2026 requiring a minimum commitment of 12 weeks at 22.5 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Review and organize program data, tracking sheets, and reports to identify key results and achievements.
- Create data summaries, program one-pagers, and materials to demonstrate impact for proposals.
- Research local data and trends to compare office results with community needs.
- Collaborate with program teams to collect data updates and ensure information accuracy.
- Research potential foundation, corporate, and individual donors.
- Identify funding opportunities and maintain donor research and proposal tracking tools.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or master’s degree program (majors including Public Health, Business Administration, Data Science, Political Science, Sociology, Communications, Human Resources, or Psychology).
- Strong research and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a focus on Excel.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate resourcefulness.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Silver Spring, Maryland.
- Modality: On-site (interns must be able to work in the office at least one day per week).
- Term: Fall 2026 (September through December).
- Orientation: Mandatory in-person orientation on September 7, 2026.
- Compensation: This position is unpaid, though interns may be eligible for a $15 per day per diem reimbursement to offset food and travel costs.
