About the role#
The Development & Grant Coordination Intern supports the International Rescue Committee Silver Spring office by managing program data and assisting with fundraising research. You will help the team analyze outcomes, track results, and create materials that highlight the impact of local programs. This role is unpaid and requires a minimum commitment of 12 weeks at 22.5 hours per week during the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Organize program data, tracking sheets, and reports to identify key results and achievements.
- Create data summaries and program one-pagers for use in grant proposals.
- Research local trends to compare office results with community needs.
- Coordinate with program teams to collect updates and verify data accuracy.
- Identify potential foundation, corporate, and individual donors.
- Update donor research and proposal tracking tools.
- Maintain organized data files and resources for fundraising projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or master’s degree program, or recent graduate status.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a focus on Excel.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and resourcefully.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Silver Spring, Maryland.
- Modality: On-site (at least one day per week in the office).
- Term: Fall 2026 (September - December).
- Orientation: Required in-person attendance on September 7th, 2026.
- Compensation: This position is unpaid, though interns may be eligible for a $15/day per diem for food and travel costs. Selected applicants must complete a background check.
