The Development & Grant Coordination Intern supports the IRC Silver Spring office by managing program data, creating impact materials, and conducting research to advance fundraising goals. This role involves analyzing program outcomes, identifying local benchmarks, and assisting with donor prospecting. Interns will collaborate with program teams to ensure data accuracy and support the preparation of grant proposals and reports.
What you'll do#
- Review and organize program data, tracking sheets, and reports to identify key results and achievements.
- Create data summaries, program one-pagers, and impact materials for use in proposals.
- Research local data and community trends to compare against office results.
- Coordinate with program teams to collect and verify data updates.
- Maintain organized data files, templates, and resources for fundraising and reporting.
- Research potential foundation, corporate, and individual donors.
- Identify funding opportunities and update donor research and proposal tracking tools.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or master’s degree program (or within 12 months of graduation).
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a high level of skill in Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate resourcefulness.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Silver Spring, Maryland.
- Term: Fall 2026 (September – December).
- Commitment: Minimum 12 weeks, 22.5 hours per week.
- Modality: On-site; must be able to work in the office at least one day per week.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. Interns may be eligible for a $15/day per diem reimbursement for food and travel costs.
- Requirements: Selected applicants must complete a background check.
