About the role#
The Resettlement Case Management Intern supports the resettlement team in welcoming refugees, asylees, and other humanitarian immigrants to the Baltimore area. This role involves working directly with clients to foster self-sufficiency during their initial transition. Interns gain experience in holistic case management, cross-cultural communication, and navigating local resources.
What you'll do#
- Assist clients with essential services, including housing set-ups, activating EBT cards, and applying for Social Security or Maryland ID cards.
- Coordinate transportation for clients to medical and other required appointments.
- Conduct orientation sessions in the office, at home, or in the community on topics such as opening bank accounts, using public transportation, and using EBT cards.
- Maintain accurate service documentation through case-notes and case file management.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Fluency in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as web-based databases.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to thrive in a cross-cultural environment.
- Prior experience or interest in working with refugees and immigrants is preferred.
- Majors in Human Resources, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, International Relations, or Business Administration are relevant to this role.
Location & details#
- Location: Baltimore, Maryland.
- Term: Fall 2026 (14 weeks, September 14 to December 18, 2026).
- Modality: Hybrid, requiring at least 3 days per week in the office.
- Commitment: Minimum of 15 hours per week.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. Interns are eligible for a per diem reimbursement of $15 per day to offset food and travel costs, as well as mileage reimbursement for approved activities.
