About the role#
The Youth Success Specialist Intern supports the Youth Program by assisting in the delivery of academic, social-emotional, and enrichment services for refugee and immigrant youth. This role involves working closely with staff to help students build the skills necessary to succeed in school and their new community. This internship is designed for students pursuing degrees in Psychology, Sociology, Human Resources, Communications, or Public Health.
What you'll do#
- Facilitate virtual tutoring and mentoring sessions via Zoom.
- Support outreach, scheduling, and communication with youth participants.
- Monitor virtual sessions to ensure a safe and respectful environment.
- Develop and share educational resources, activities, and content aligned with program goals.
- Track attendance and assist with data entry and documentation for program evaluation.
- Collaborate with the Youth Success Specialist to identify and respond to the needs of youth participants.
What you'll need#
- Fluency in English is required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Prior experience working with refugees and immigrants is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Canva.
Location & details#
- Term: Fall 2026 (14 weeks, September 14 through December 18, 2026).
- Location: Baltimore, Maryland (Hybrid).
- Schedule: Minimum of 15 hours per week, with in-office attendance required at least 3 days per week. Availability on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM is required.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. Per diem reimbursement of $15 per day is available to offset food and travel costs.
