    About the role#

    Access: Supports for Living offers clinical internship opportunities for students pursuing degrees in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Mental Health Counseling. This is an unpaid, full-time position based in Middletown, New York. Interns work alongside staff to gain experience in mental health, substance use, and family services. You will manage a caseload tailored to your current education level and experience.

    What you'll do#

    • Facilitate or assist with psycho-educational, rehabilitation, and recovery groups.
    • Lead or support individual counseling sessions and group therapy.
    • Conduct client intakes and complete psychosocial assessments.
    • Manage a caseload, including the completion of session notes, monthly summaries, and Individual Recovery Plans.
    • Participate in treatment planning and handle the transfer or closure of client files.
    • Engage with clinical modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a degree program that grants credit hours for this internship.
    • Standing as a first or second year student in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Mental Health Counseling.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff members.
    • Previous experience in a clinical or behavioral health setting is preferred.

    • Location: Middletown, New York.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Schedule: Monday through Friday, between 8am and 6pm.
    • Status: Unpaid internship.
