About the role#
IMEG is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position lasting 10 to 12 weeks. You will work alongside experienced engineers on structural systems for various building types, including commercial and institutional projects. You will gain hands-on experience by collaborating across disciplines and contributing to project documentation and design reviews.
What you'll do#
- Assist with structural design tasks following code requirements and company standards.
- Coordinate design and schedules with architectural, electrical, mechanical, and other project teams.
- Support client relations and maintain project design notebooks.
- Document design decisions, meeting outcomes, and client instructions.
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final checks.
- Conduct research to find project resources.
- Prepare and issue addendum information.
- Perform periodic job site observations.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least 2 years toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or an equivalent field.
- Strong interest in design consulting.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Skills in AutoCAD or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
- Clear oral and written communication abilities.
- Prior internship experience in building design consulting is preferred.
