About the role#
IMEG is hiring an Electrical Engineering Intern for a 10-12 week program during Summer 2027. You will work alongside experienced engineers and consultants on real project work in hospitality, mixed-use, office-commercial, and aviation sectors. This is a full-time, paid, hybrid position based in New York, NY.
What you'll do#
- Assist with designing electrical system portions of projects according to code and company standards.
- Support engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings.
- Research commercially available equipment for project use.
- Help maintain client relations, project design notebooks, and documentation for permanent record files.
- Coordinate design and schedule activities with architectural, structural, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment supplier teams.
- Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check.
- Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information.
- Conduct periodic job site observations and support other services required by the contract services agreement.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Strong interest in design consulting.
- Previous exposure to CAD or BIM software.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to communicate clearly in both oral and written forms to individuals or groups.
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry is preferred.
