About the role#
We are looking for a Construction Management student to join our team for a hands-on co-op or internship. You will work directly with Project and Construction Managers, engineers, and skilled trades to support real-world fabrication and installation projects. This role provides exposure to the full project lifecycle, from early-stage planning to final commissioning. You will gain experience in project execution, safety, quality, and cost management while working in both field and shop environments.
What you'll do#
- Support the daily execution of shop fabrication and field installation projects.
- Track project milestones, schedules, budgets, and deliverables while flagging potential delays.
- Join site walk-throughs and inspections to monitor quality, safety, and progress.
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors regarding deliverables and schedules.
- Document project progress through meeting notes, status reports, site photos, and punch lists.
- Manage punch lists and track outstanding items through project closeout.
- Assist with commissioning activities as systems transition to operational status.
- Maintain organized project records and documentation.
- Follow all safety requirements, including site-specific procedures and the use of PPE.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Construction Management or related college program.
- Familiarity with CAD tools and project management or scheduling software like Procore or MS Project.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic understanding of construction safety practices and workplace safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn new technical concepts.
- Ability to work safely in active construction and fabrication environments.
- Physical ability to stand or walk for extended periods, navigate ladders, stairs, and uneven surfaces, and lift up to 40 pounds.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Previous internship or project experience is a plus.
- OSHA awareness is a plus.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time, on-site position.
- You must be able to work on-site at our Rochester, NY and Rush, NY locations.
- You must be willing to travel between shop locations and client job sites as required.
- This role is offered on a rolling basis.
