About the role#
IMEG is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern for a 10-12 week program during Summer 2027. You will work on the analysis, design, and implementation of structural systems for buildings and other structures. This is a full-time, on-site position where you will gain hands-on experience alongside experienced engineers. You will contribute to projects in commercial and institutional markets while supporting sustainable design goals.
What you'll do#
- Assist with design portions of projects related to discipline systems according to code and company standards.
- Research project resources and supporting information.
- Support client relations, project design notebooks, and permanent record documentation.
- Coordinate design and schedule needs with other disciplines and suppliers.
- Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project progress.
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with the preparation and issuance of addendum information.
- Conduct periodic job site observations.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least 2 years toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or an equivalent field.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Skills in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
- Ability to communicate clearly in both oral and written formats.
- A strong interest in design consulting.
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry is preferred.
