About the role#
IMEG is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern for a 10-12 week program during Summer 2027. You will work in Pasadena, California, on a full-time basis. This role involves assisting experienced engineers with the analysis, design, and implementation of structural systems for various building projects. You will contribute to project delivery by supporting budget management, cross-functional coordination, and documentation while gaining exposure to commercial and institutional work.
What you'll do#
- Assist with structural system design for building projects following company standards and applicable codes.
- Support engineering analysis, design, and implementation of structural systems.
- Research project resources and gather information to support design tasks.
- Maintain project documentation, including design notebooks and permanent record files.
- Coordinate design activities and schedules with architectural, electrical, mechanical, and other project teams.
- Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project progress.
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with the preparation and issuance of addendum information.
- Conduct periodic job site observations and support other services required by contract agreements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations within the project budget.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least 2 years toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or an equivalent field.
- A strong interest in design consulting.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Skills in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
- Ability to communicate clearly in both oral and written formats.
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry is preferred.
