About the role#
This is an unpaid internship offered through the Hire Vets Now SkillBridge Program. It is designed for transitioning active-duty U.S. military personnel to gain professional experience during their final 180 days of service. Interns work on meaningful projects alongside mentors and senior leadership, focusing on roles that align with their existing military training, education, and skills.
What you'll do#
- Implement and monitor industrial safety programs to maintain personnel and facility safety.
- Ensure organizational safety standards align with OSHA and state regulations.
- Evaluate new equipment and materials for safety compliance.
- Monitor employee exposure to chemicals and toxic substances.
- Conduct surveys and inspections to verify adherence to safety policies and procedures.
- Test and service safety equipment and systems.
- Report hazardous conditions or non-compliance and recommend remedial actions.
- Manage storage areas, consumable supply inventories, and personal protective equipment.
- Respond to emergency situations involving fire, smoke, radiation, or hazardous materials.
What you'll need#
- Must be active-duty military within the final 180 days of service to participate.
- Transitioning military candidates may begin the application process within the final 12 months of service.
- Education and experience requirements are dependent on the specific Program of Instruction.
- Preferred academic backgrounds include Industrial, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
