ENGINEER INDUSTRIAL SKILLBRIDGE INTERN

About the role#

This is an unpaid internship through the Hire Vets Now (HVN) SkillBridge Program, designed for transitioning active-duty US military personnel. You will work on projects alongside a mentor and senior leadership to gain experience relevant to your military training and education. This role is intended to help bridge the gap between military service and a potential full-time career at Newport News Shipbuilding.

What you'll do#

• Analyze and design sequences of operations and workflows to improve efficiency in plant, production facilities, and equipment layouts.
• Establish methods to maximize the utilization of production facilities and personnel.
• Conduct studies related to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems.
• Develop and implement plans for facility modifications and revisions to operating methods.
• Assist facilities engineers in the planning and design of production facilities.

What you'll need#

• Must be active-duty military within your final 180 days of service to participate.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Education and experience requirements are dependent on the specific Program of Instruction.
• Transitioning military candidates may begin applying within the final 12 months of military service.
