About the role#
The Renewables Engineering Intern position offers hands-on experience at an ethanol production facility. You will work with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to apply technical principles to real-world challenges. This role involves troubleshooting process issues, analyzing operational data, and contributing to projects that improve safety, reliability, and plant performance. You will gain exposure to both daily operations and capital improvement initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Support process engineering initiatives by troubleshooting operational challenges and researching practical solutions.
- Analyze data to improve plant performance.
- Collaborate with production operators, engineers, and maintenance personnel to identify and implement process improvements.
- Assist with capital projects including project planning, data collection, equipment evaluations, contractor coordination, and execution.
- Review and update process documentation such as P&IDs, standard operating procedures, and engineering records.
- Conduct field observations and evaluate equipment and system performance.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts focused on safety, efficiency, and reliability.
- Communicate engineering findings, project updates, and recommended solutions to cross-functional teams.
- Take ownership of assigned projects and responsibilities.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's Degree program for Chemical, Mechanical, Agriculture Systems, or Process Engineering.
- Junior standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Strong communication, problem solving, and time management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team setting.
- 0-2 years of relevant experience.
