About the role#
This internship offers practical experience within the actuarial department at Highmark Health. You will receive hands-on training and mentorship from senior personnel to prepare for a career in the field. What you'll do#
- Support day-to-day operations and participate in team projects.
- Perform and analyze actuarial studies, including premium development, claim trends, and medical economics.
- Conduct research and prepare reports or presentations for decision makers.
- Apply statistical analysis to non-traditional areas like provider analysis, network design, and predictive analytics.
- Assist with planning and implementing unit initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited baccalaureate program, studying Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or Finance.
- Experience or a clear interest in actuarial studies and statistical analysis.
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.
- Willingness to take on projects to build professional expertise.
- Independent authorization to work in the United States.
