WGAL-TV offers paid, on-site internships in the News department for the Fall 2026 term. Interns spend 10-12 weeks shadowing and gaining experience across various areas, including the assignment desk, TV and digital news production, sports, and weather. Internships typically consist of 16 hours per week, scheduled based on mutual availability and academic requirements.
What you'll do#
- Assist team members in gathering news and information, including research and communication with sources.
- Write and format scripts for broadcast and research content for digital platforms.
- Analyze weather charts, models, and statistical data to prepare forecasts and produce graphics.
- Relay critical information between the news, assignment desk, and web departments.
- Pitch story ideas and assist with field work and news gathering.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, or meteorology-related program.
- Meteorology candidates must be enrolled in a meteorology curriculum or closely related program of study.
- Strong interest in local and national sports with knowledge of team and player statistics.
- Ability to write scripts for daily sportscasts and communicate effectively.
