About the role#
As a News Intern at KOCO, you will gain hands-on experience in how a professional newsroom operates. You will be integrated into daily operations, working alongside reporters, producers, and photographers both in the newsroom and in the field. This is a paid internship.
What you'll do#
- Assist with writing voice-overs, spots, and news packages.
- Support reporters, producers, and photographers during shoots.
- Log interviews and assist with the coordination of newsroom content.
- Write stories for newscasts.
- Research and gather information for news stories.
- Assist with daily newsroom operations and production tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- A demonstrated interest in journalism, supported by relevant college coursework or previous experience in a local newsroom.
- Strong editorial, writing, and technical skills.
- The ability to react and adapt quickly to breaking news.
- Versatility to handle a wide range of topics and subjects.
- Knowledge of current events and the ability to work effectively within a team.
