News Intern

About the role#

As a News Intern at KOCO, you will gain hands-on experience in how a professional newsroom operates. You will be integrated into daily operations, working alongside reporters, producers, and photographers both in the newsroom and in the field. This is a paid internship.

What you'll do#

• Assist with writing voice-overs, spots, and news packages.
• Support reporters, producers, and photographers during shoots.
• Log interviews and assist with the coordination of newsroom content.
• Write stories for newscasts.
• Research and gather information for news stories.
• Assist with daily newsroom operations and production tasks as assigned.

What you'll need#

• A demonstrated interest in journalism, supported by relevant college coursework or previous experience in a local newsroom.
• Strong editorial, writing, and technical skills.
• The ability to react and adapt quickly to breaking news.
• Versatility to handle a wide range of topics and subjects.
• Knowledge of current events and the ability to work effectively within a team.
