About the role#
As a News Intern at KOCO, you will gain hands-on experience in how a professional newsroom operates. You will work directly with the news team to research and gather information for stories, assist with daily production tasks, and contribute to the overall workflow of the newsroom. This is a paid, on-site internship.
What you'll do#
- Write stories for newscasts, including vo/spots and packages.
- Assist reporters, producers, and photographers during field shoots.
- Log interviews and help coordinate content within the newsroom.
- Support daily newsroom operations as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or interest in Journalism or Communications.
- Previous experience through college coursework or a prior internship in a local newsroom.
- Strong editorial, writing, and technical skills.
- Ability to react and adapt quickly to breaking news.
- Versatility in handling a wide range of topics and subjects.
- Knowledge of current events and the ability to work well within a team.
