News Intern

About the role#

As a News Intern at KOCO, you will gain hands-on experience in how a professional newsroom operates. You will work directly with the news team to research and gather information for stories and assist with daily production tasks. This is a paid, on-site internship.

What you'll do#

• Write stories for newscasts, including VO/spots and packages.
• Assist reporters, producers, and photographers during field shoots.
• Log interviews and help coordinate content within the newsroom.
• Support daily newsroom operations and assist the production team as needed.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment or background in Journalism or Communications.
• Ability to react and adapt quickly to breaking news.
• Versatility to handle a wide range of topics and subjects.
• Strong editorial, writing, and technical skills.
• An up-to-date knowledge of current events.
• Previous experience through college coursework or a prior newsroom internship.
