About the role#
HealthFitness offers internship opportunities for students completing university requirements. This role provides hands-on experience in a fitness facility. You will gain exposure to health and wellness operations while receiving support to develop your professional skills.
What you'll do#
- Provide supervision and fitness guidance for facility members.
- Perform fitness evaluations for program participants and personal training clients.
- Interpret fitness test data to prescribe exercise programs.
- Compile participation data and complete necessary reports.
- Develop and implement at least one special program or event.
- Job shadow a personal trainer and train a client under supervision.
- Teach at least one group exercise class format.
- Assist with marketing programs through newsletters, events, and other channels.
- Help staff with daily office duties and attend scheduled meetings.
What you'll need#
- Junior or Senior level status in a Bachelor's or Master's program.
- Degree focus in Kinesiology, Health Administration, or a related field.
- Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
- Personal Training or Group Exercise certification from a recognized organization is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals.
