About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in a corporate, community, or hospital-based fitness facility. You will gain exposure to various aspects of health and wellness while completing your university internship requirement.
What you'll do#
- Provide supervision and fitness guidance for facility members.
- Assist in compiling participation data and completing required reports.
- Perform fitness evaluations for program participants and personal training clients.
- Interpret fitness test data to prescribe cardiovascular and strength exercise programs.
- Develop and implement at least one special program or event.
- Shadow personal trainers and train clients under supervision.
- Teach at least one group exercise class format.
- Contribute to the marketing of fitness and wellness programs through various channels.
- Assist staff with general office duties and attend scheduled meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current Junior or Senior level Bachelor's or Master's student.
- Degree focus in Kinesiology, Health Administration, Real Estate, Public Health, or a related field.
- Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.
- Strong communication skills to instruct and interact with diverse groups.
- Personal Training or Group Exercise certification is preferred.
