About the role#
HealthFitness offers internships for students completing university requirements in corporate, community, and hospital settings. This role provides hands-on experience and exposure to various health and fitness operations.
What you'll do#
- Provide supervision and fitness guidance for facility members.
- Perform fitness evaluations and interpret data to prescribe cardiovascular and strength programs.
- Job shadow a Personal Trainer and lead a client session under supervision.
- Teach at least one group exercise class format through team teaching.
- Develop or implement a special program or event.
- Assist with marketing fitness services and coordinating site events.
- Compile participation data and complete necessary reports.
- Help staff with daily office duties and attend scheduled meetings.
What you'll need#
- Junior or Senior status in a Bachelor or Master degree program.
- Currently studying Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Recreation, Health Education, Health Promotion, or a related field.
- Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Strong communication skills to interact with diverse groups of people.
- Personal Training or Group Exercise certification from ACE, ACSM, AFAA, NSCA, or NASM is preferred.
