About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in a fitness and wellness environment. Students will gain exposure to facility operations and member services while completing their university internship requirements. This role is based in a corporate, community, or hospital facility setting.
What you'll do#
- Provide fitness and wellness guidance to facility members.
- Conduct fitness evaluations and interpret data to prescribe cardiovascular and strength exercise programs.
- Develop and implement at least one special program or event.
- Assist with the marketing of fitness and wellness initiatives through various internal channels.
- Instruct group exercise classes and assist with special fitness programs as needed.
- Support daily office operations and participate in scheduled meetings.
- Shadow personal trainers and gain experience training clients under supervision.
What you'll need#
- Junior or Senior level student currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Kinesiology, Health Administration, Public Health, or a related field.
- Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
- Ability to instruct and teach group exercise classes.
- Personal Training or Group Exercise certification is preferred.
