About the role#
This internship provides students with professional experience in a corporate fitness center environment. You will gain exposure to various health and wellness operations while completing your university internship requirements at a client site in Chicago, Illinois.
What you'll do#
- Provide supervision and fitness guidance to facility members.
- Perform fitness evaluations, interpret data, and prescribe cardiovascular and strength exercise programs.
- Assist with compiling participation data and completing required reports.
- Coordinate and implement special health and wellness events.
- Contribute to program marketing through newsletters, website promotions, and events.
- Assist staff with daily office operations.
- Attend all scheduled meetings and office hours.
- Gain practical experience by job shadowing personal trainers and teaching group exercise classes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior or Senior undergraduate or a Master's student in Kinesiology, Health Administration, Public Health, Real Estate, or a related field.
- Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
- Personal Training or Group Exercise certification is preferred.
