About the role#
This editorial internship supports KAZÉ, our manga initiative. You will learn the publishing process across various genres while shadowing editors who bring manga to the United States. This is a paid, on-site position for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Write reader reports and evaluate potential acquisitions.
- Learn to write cover copy and title sheets.
- Research and check metadata.
- Review interior and cover passes.
- Attend department meetings to learn the publishing process.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from an undergraduate or master's program.
- Eligibility for those available to work in a full-time capacity in 2027 or 2028.
- Open to rising seniors, recent graduates, or entry-level candidates with up to 1 year of work experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook) and Adobe programs.
- Strong communication, time-management, and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail for proofreading and task prioritization.
- A passion for books and manga.
- Ability to read and communicate in Japanese is a plus.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- A resume and cover letter addressed to the Hiring Team.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 28 hours per week.
- Dates: June 7 to August 12, 2027.
- Compensation: $18 per hour.
