About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience within the Harper imprint. You will report to two Executive Editors and support the editorial team with administrative tasks and project coordination. You will gain exposure to the editorial process for fiction and select nonfiction titles.
What you'll do#
- Assist with daily editorial administrative tasks.
- Support author relations and communications.
- Read and evaluate manuscript submissions.
- Help prepare submissions for literary awards.
- Contribute to seasonal book launch preparation.
- Draft fact sheets and copy.
- Provide support for jacket design projects.
- Learn and use internal publishing software for expense processing and departmental functions.
- Attend relevant meetings to learn about the publication process.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or recent graduation from an undergraduate or master's program.
- Availability to work 21 hours per week across 3 or 4 days between February 8 and April 16, 2027.
- Eligibility to work in a full-time capacity in 2027 or 2028.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- A resume and a cover letter addressed to the Hiring Team.
- A strong interest in pop culture and books, specifically contemporary fiction like book club, women's, literary, and mystery or thriller genres.
- Proactive work habits and attention to detail.
- Clear communication skills to coordinate with different departments.

- This position is based on-site in New York, New York.
- The internship is paid at a rate of $18 per hour.
