About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience within the Harper Influence editorial group. You will report to a senior editor and an assistant editor while supporting the daily administrative tasks of the team. This role provides exposure to the publication process for fiction and select nonfiction titles.
What you'll do#
- Support author relations and departmental communications.
- Assist with manuscript routing, evaluation, and reading submissions.
- Help prepare for seasonal book launches, including writing copy and fact sheets.
- Provide support for jacket design projects.
- Process expenses and learn to use internal publishing software programs.
- Prepare submissions for literary awards.
- Attend team meetings to observe and engage with editorial staff.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from an undergraduate or master's program in English, Communications, or Media Studies.
- Availability to work on-site in the New York City office Monday through Thursday, June 7 through August 12, 2027.
- Eligibility for full-time work in 2027 or 2028.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- A resume and a cover letter addressed to the Hiring Team.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to tasks.
- Clear communication skills for cross-departmental coordination.
- An interest in book club fiction, women's fiction, literary fiction, and mystery, thriller, crime, or suspense genres.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Schedule: 28 hours per week, Monday - Thursday.
- Compensation: $18 per hour.
