    About the role#

    The Avon Group at HarperCollins Publishers is seeking an editorial intern to support the Romance Team. This role provides an inside look at the editorial process for imprints like Avon Books and Harper Voyager. You will gain experience across romance, women’s fiction, science fiction, and fantasy genres.

    What you'll do#

    • Read and evaluate manuscripts and proposals.
    • Write reader’s reports and draft rejection letters.
    • Research author track records and comparison titles.
    • Track trends in editorial content and marketing approaches.
    • Help prepare manuscripts for production.
    • Assist with author social media content.
    • Support editors with administrative tasks like mailings and requesting marketing materials.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in or recent graduation from an undergraduate or master’s program.
    • Ability to work 28 hours per week, Monday through Thursday.
    • Availability from June 7 through August 12, 2027.
    • Authorization to work in the United States.
    • A resume and a cover letter addressed to the Hiring Team.
    • A genuine interest in books and the publishing business.
    • An interest in romance novels is a plus.

    • This is a paid, on-site internship located in New York, New York.
    • Compensation is $18 per hour.
