About the role#
The Harper Marketing department handles promotion and sales coverage for hardcover imprints including Harper, Harper Business, and Harper Edge. This internship provides an introduction to the publication process and the daily operations of a marketing team. You will work alongside staff to support campaigns for a variety of authors and book genres.
What you'll do#
- Learn to use publishing software programs.
- Assist with marketing copy, administrative tasks, and influencer outreach.
- Manage departmental accounts on Goodreads and NetGalley.
- Coordinate marketing mailings to bookstores and influencers.
- Help with digital marketing tasks, including social media outreach and content creation.
- Brainstorm and build lists for book clubs and other promotional methods.
- Develop an understanding of the teams and tasks involved in publishing hardcover books.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or recent graduation from an undergraduate or master's program.
- Availability to work 28 hours per week, Monday through Thursday.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- A genuine interest in books.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Experience with Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, or Canva is a plus.
- Up to 1 year of work experience.
- A resume and a cover letter addressed to the Hiring Team.
