About the role#
Hargrove Engineers & Constructors is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team in Mobile, Alabama. This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship offered on a rolling basis. You will work under direct supervision to handle routine design assignments and support our engineering team.
What you'll do#
- Perform routine designs for less complex engineering tasks.
- Assist in the development of conceptual layouts and studies to find efficient project approaches.
- Produce estimate-level preliminary designs and material take-offs.
- Create detail design calculations, spreadsheets, reports, drawings, and sketches.
- Help engineers and designers resolve routine layout and detailing problems.
- Follow department engineering design and drafting standards.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Master of Science program for Mechanical Engineering at an accredited university.
- A GPA of 2.7 or higher.
- Working knowledge of CAD software, such as AutoCAD or Microstation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with relevant design standards and codes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
