About the role#
The Mechanical Engineering Co-op supports the design, development, and documentation of industrial machinery. You will work on-site at the Fives Cincinnati facility to gain experience in product development, CAD modeling, and machine assembly. This role provides direct exposure to engineering challenges and mentorship from experienced staff.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design, modeling, and documentation of mechanical components and assemblies.
- Support engineering activities during machine builds, assembly, and testing.
- Participate in design reviews and provide feedback to improve product quality.
- Collaborate with lead engineers to troubleshoot technical and customer-related issues.
- Help create and maintain engineering documentation, such as drawings and specifications.
- Aid in the development of new parts, systems, and assemblies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program for Mechanical Engineering at an accredited 4-year university.
- Familiarity with CAD software, specifically Creo, SolidWorks, or Siemens NX.
- Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
- Previous internship, co-op, or project experience in a manufacturing or OEM environment is helpful.
- Exposure to design reviews, hazard analyses, and FMEA is beneficial.
