About the role#
This internship offers an opportunity to join the Show Systems team at Walt Disney Imagineering. You will work on the design and development of audio-animatronic figures, show action equipment, and special effects. The role covers various engineering phases, from initial concept development to final installation and commissioning. This is a full-time, paid position based in Celebration, Florida, running from January 2027 to June 2027.
What you'll do#
- Perform mechanical design tasks under the guidance of experienced team members.
- Use surface modeling techniques to design organic shells and skins for audio-animatronic figures.
- Collaborate with production teams to track floor changes.
- Gain practical knowledge in the design and engineering of animatronic figures.
- Support various stages of the engineering process for theme park attractions.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical components and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with 3D design software like Solidworks, Rhino, or Fusion 360.
- Experience with engineering analysis software such as Ansys.
- Proficiency in digital sculpting.
- Ability to provide reliable transportation to and from the work site.
