Throughout GDIT’s 10-week Summer Internship Program, you will have the opportunity to do the following:   Work side-by-side with GDIT professionals delivering work for clients.Collaborate with a team of peers to research and propose solutions to a current business challenge.Participate in a mentoring circle led by an early career champion. Interact with GDIT leaders.Participate in professional development. How You’ll Make this Internship Opportunity Your Own  Our AI/ML Data Science and Engineering summer interns will work on a range of projects that ideally align with their interests. Some interns will develop agentic solutions capable of answering business questions and performing approved actions across enterprise information sources. Other interns will develop standalone proxy services for full, front-end management of any LLM implementation. The ultimate product will be a single managed service which includes features such as detection, monitoring, security, and FinOps, allowing flexible implementations that nonetheless adhere to consistent governance and management standards.   The ideal intern will have knowledge of AI/ML tools and fundamentals, data science and engineering, data libraries, and at least one programming language.   The Must-Haves  Currently enrolled in an associate's, bachelor's or master's degree program in computer science, IT, engineering, or other STEM field from a United States-based college or university.Basic understanding of core Data Science concepts, including data cleaning, exploratory analysis, simple statistical methods, and foundational machine learning principles, with an eagerness to learn and apply AI/ML techniques in real‑world projectsBasic understanding of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, and Teams)  What You’ll Need to Deliver Your Best Every Day  Problem solving and interest in big dataInterest or experience with big data platform toolsInterest in data cleaning, wrangling, transformation, model selection, cross-validation, and deploymentInterest in building and maintaining data pipelinesInterest in training, testing, monitoring, and maintaining AI/ML modelsInterest in containerization, optimization, and workflow automationInterest in AI/ML security best practices to include data provenance, isolation, monitoring, and adversarial testingInterest in responsible AI/ML governance to include transparency, risk mitigation, fairness, and complianceInterest in FinOps practicesKnowledge of statistical techniquesKnowledge of machine learning algorithms and fundamentalsKnowledge of data and ML librariesKnowledge of Python, SQL, or other programming languages Experience working in a collaborative team environmentIntuitiveness with an ability to identify and solve complex problems related to rapidly changing technologyAbility to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions GDIT interns are paid and full-time (40 hours/week) for 10 consecutive Applicants should have a minimum of one semester remaining in their studies after their internship concludes.
