About the role#
GDIT offers a 10-week summer internship program for students pursuing degrees in computer science, engineering, and related STEM fields. This full-time position provides an opportunity to contribute to complex government, defense, and intelligence projects. Interns work alongside professionals, collaborate with peers on business challenges, and engage with company leaders through mentoring circles and professional development sessions.
What you'll do#
- Research, design, and develop enterprise-wide systems and software applications.
- Write code for software components, units, and modules.
- Perform systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.
- Test and debug assigned components while participating in system planning.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to address machine characteristics and resolve technical incompatibilities.
- Create and update technical documentation, including user manuals and training materials.
- Troubleshoot software operating systems and application issues while providing customer support.
- Participate in special projects and maintain knowledge of relevant technologies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an associate, bachelor, or master degree program in computer science, IT, engineering, or a related STEM field at a United States-based institution.
- A desire to learn new software languages and technologies.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build professional relationships.
- Self-awareness, the ability to prioritize tasks, and a proactive approach to personal and professional development.
- An intuitive mindset for solving complex technical problems.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Understanding of automation technologies, software development best practices, and ITSM concepts is preferred.
