About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in advanced manufacturing. You will work with engineering teams to improve processes and implement new technologies. This is a full-time, on-site role for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Support the implementation of new technologies and process improvements across fabrication and paint operations.
- Map manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement.
- Gain experience with Lean manufacturing, waste reduction, and process standardization.
- Support capital expenditure justification for new technology.
- Contribute to Industry 4.0 initiatives by helping implement smart devices and digital platforms.
- Update work instructions and operator guides using Pro-E models and drawings.
- Research and evaluate technologies to improve manufacturing.
- Coordinate standards and activities across multiple facilities.
- Deploy standard company tools and methodologies.
- Collaborate with shop floor personnel to improve manufacturing methods.
- Use CAD or CAE systems to recommend design improvements.
- Travel to other company facilities as needed.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BS degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Completion of your sophomore year.
- Working knowledge of Pro-E or AutoCAD.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week during the summer.
