About the role#
Generac is looking for a Digital Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our team in Waukesha, Wisconsin. This is a full-time, paid internship for the Summer of 2027. You will work alongside engineers to build and maintain digital solutions within our manufacturing processes.
What you'll do#
- Build manufacturing applications, Power BI reports, and dashboards.
- Create machine connections using OPC-UA and integrate systems via APIs.
- Support the design, validation, and documentation of new digital solutions.
- Write scopes of work, technical documentation, and training materials.
- Manage change requests for existing digital tools.
- Work with the IT data team to refine the data lake.
- Provide technical support for assigned projects and interface with internal teams.
- Travel to other Generac facilities as needed.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BS degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Completion of your Junior year is preferred.
- Working knowledge of discrete manufacturing workflows.
- Exposure to MES, ERP, supply chain systems, or industrial data platforms.
- Experience with visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Python libraries.
- Proficiency in data analysis and scripting languages such as Python, R, or Julia.
- Understanding of data pipeline concepts including ingestion, transformation, and storage.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Ability to prepare analytical summaries for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Waukesha, Wisconsin (On-site).
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week during the Summer of 2027.
- Physical requirements: Ability to sit for computer-based work, stand, walk, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
