About the role#
Generac is looking for engineering interns to support our product development teams. This role provides students with hands-on experience in the power generation and power tool industries. You will work alongside experienced mentors on projects related to electrical systems, controls engineering, embedded systems, or power electronics.
What you'll do#
- Design, validate, and bring new products to market.
- Create and maintain CAD models, drawings, and bills of materials.
- Develop, execute, and evaluate fitness-for-use testing and process validation plans.
- Specify functional requirements and integrate standard components.
- Evaluate designs for cost, reliability, and safety.
- Collaborate with manufacturing partners and internal product specialists to optimize designs.
- Use CAD or CAE systems to produce detailed engineering drawings.
- Provide technical support for assigned projects.
- Travel to other company facilities as necessary.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Completion of your sophomore year is preferred.
- Understanding of basic electrical concepts.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics.
- Background in programming languages that communicate with electronic hardware.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) during the summer.
